Ashley Ann Woods

Ashley Ann Woods is a designer and painter currently based in Birmingham, AL. Hailing from the land of ten thousand lakes, Ms. Woods graduated cum laude with her B.F.A. in Theatrical Design and a minor in Art History from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Having spent nearly a decade in the Chicago storefront theatre scene, she has worked with a variety of community, educational and professional storefront theaters. Favorite credits include Miss Holmes (Lifeline Theatre), La Havana Madrid (Teatro Vista), Posh (Steep), Heathers: the Musical and The Full Monty (Kokandy Productions), Desperate Dolls and Distance (Strawdog Theatre), The Rover and Devour (20% Theatre Chicago), Crime Scene: the Next Chapter and Forgotten Future (Collaboraction, where she is a Company Member), as well as shows with Pride Films & Plays, Jackalope, Infamous Commonwealth, Provision Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, The Side Project, Polarity Ensemble Theatre, The Ruckus, Tympanic Theatre, Will Act for Food, Strangeloop Theatre, Highland Park Players, and Harper College among others. In 2017, Ms. Woods relocated to Alabama where she is now the Managing Director of the Birmingham Children's Theatre where she has had the opportunity to design numerous shows including Alice in Wonderland, And in This Corner: Cassius Clay, and Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott among others. 

Ms. Woods believes strongly in the power of art and theatre to create a space where critical discussions about our world can take place. She is especially drawn to theatre that is socially relevant, and stories that are diverse and inclusive.
